How to evaluate sportsbook trading software

Start with the decision and action the software is allowed to perform. Some tools propose prices for a trader to review; others can adjust odds, suspend markets or apply acceptance rules automatically. Distinguish that software role from a supplier-run trading desk, an odds feed and the player-facing betting platform. A pricing algorithm does not itself transfer responsibility for the operator’s book.

Compare event/selection mapping, input prices, market phases and pricing models. Establish how rules respond to changing liabilities, stale feeds, suspensions and corrected results. Define who may change margins, risk thresholds and automation scope, and how traders intervene or return to manual operation. Test exceptional bet and settlement states alongside ordinary price updates; published throughput or hold objectives are not guarantees for a configured deployment.

The proposal should identify integrations, configuration access, audit records, release authority and support. Agree a staged rollout and acceptance evidence against the operator’s actual market set. Separate software charges from data, trading staff, platform and assessment costs, and specify the operating responsibilities retained by the buyer.

Buyer questions, answered

Is automated trading software the same as a managed trading desk?

No. The software provides configurable pricing and risk actions; a managed desk involves supplier trading responsibility. OpticOdds’ current Copilot offer illustrates the automated software role.

Source
Can correlation-aware pricing be integrated as a separate component?

Yes. The current OpticOdds Bet Builder page explicitly offers standalone correlated pricing. Compare dependencies and control authority for the proposed integration.

Source
What should be established about incoming market data?

Identify sources, market/event mappings, live/pre-match states and correction/result records. The current OpticOdds API demonstrates a combined input feed; the buyer still needs agreed recovery and acceptance behaviour.
