How to evaluate payment orchestration

Start with a map of approved providers, merchant accounts and target player markets. Compare routing controls, decline handling, duplicate prevention and the reports needed to reconcile the operator ledger. A connector count alone says little about the flows a specific operator can activate.

Separate software orchestration from processing contracts and custody of funds. Test failures and delayed provider responses, specify permitted retries and confirm who owns configuration changes. Compare platform charges with provider fees and avoid treating advertised conversion gains as a guaranteed result.

What to compare

01

Product role

What job does this product perform, and which adjacent jobs need another product?

02

Delivery and integration

How is the product connected, and who maintains the implementation?

03

Pricing and packaging

Which platform, usage, setup and optional charges are included?

04

Scope and coverage

Which approved merchants, markets and transaction flows are in scope?

05

Routing and failover

Which rules, decline conditions and retry controls are available?

06

Provider contracting

Which merchant accounts, approvals and PSP contracts remain necessary?

07

Operational reconciliation

How are provider results and settlement records matched to the operator ledger?

Buyer questions, answered

Is orchestration the same as a payment processor?

Not necessarily. Orchestration controls connections and transaction routes; processing and settlement responsibilities depend on the contracted setup.

Does one integration give unrestricted access to every PSP?

No. A technical connector does not replace provider onboarding, jurisdiction eligibility or merchant approval.

What should a routing comparison test?

Successful payments, rejected transactions, delayed responses, duplicate requests and the allowed conditions for retry.
