How to evaluate business intelligence

Use real operational questions to compare BI products: explain a KPI change, inspect a player or game, build a repeatable segment and produce a management report. Confirm that each output uses the same agreed business definitions.

Assess how users explore data, set access and export results, and how metric changes are governed. Do not judge only the visual dashboard. The data foundation, refresh behaviour and effort needed to answer an unplanned question often determine how the product fits daily work.

What to compare

01

Product role

What job does this product perform, and which adjacent jobs need another product?

02

Delivery and integration

How is it connected, what data or interfaces are required, and who owns implementation?

03

Pricing and packaging

Which recurring, usage, setup and add-on charges are included in the proposal?

04

Scope and coverage

Which markets, inputs, content or use cases are actually in the proposed scope?

05

Metric definitions

How are shared definitions maintained across outputs?

06

Exports

What can be exported, and through which interfaces?

07

Outputs

Which self-service analytical outputs are provided?

Buyer questions, answered

Can two dashboards disagree even when they use the same database?

Yes. Compare metric definitions, filters, time zones and transformations as part of the implementation.

Does an export prove an action occurred in another tool?

No. Delivery, downstream execution and measured effect are distinct checks.

What should business users test in a demo?

An unscripted operational question, a drill-down, a reusable segment and a report using agreed definitions.
