Exchange API

API access to Betfair Exchange prices, available liquidity, traded volumes and market status, with separate commercial licensing and data-access conditions.

The offering

What Exchange API does

Betfair Exchange API exposes data from the Betfair Exchange. Buyers can retrieve back and lay prices, amounts available at each price and traded volumes through market-book requests or Stream subscriptions. Market filters and state fields distinguish pre-event and in-play markets.

The prices originate in one exchange rather than a bookmaker pricing service or multi-bookmaker collection. Company use of Exchange data requires the relevant commercial licence. Delayed development access and live access have different conditions; Betfair’s Delayed key uses production markets, not a virtual-money sandbox. The API also documents order and account operations, which should be scoped separately from a data-only integration.

Buyer questions, answered

Are these bookmaker-generated or multi-bookmaker odds?

The source is the Betfair Exchange, including its prices, volumes and liquidity. This profile covers exchange-origin data.

Source
Which licence should a business evaluate?

Betfair lists a company or betting-operator Exchange Data Licence separately from software distribution, odds publishing and exchange white-label arrangements. A KYC-verified account is required.

Source
Is the Delayed Application Key a sandbox?

No. Betfair states that it uses the production Exchange with delayed price data, rather than a virtual-currency testing environment.

Source
How does delayed Stream access differ from live Stream?

Delayed Stream combines changes into three-minute batches. Live Stream requires a Live Application Key and a fully verified, funded account.

Source
Does the API expose settlement results?

Its market-book response provides WINNER and LOSER selection statuses after settlement. This is market-result data; an operator still needs to agree its own mapping and correction process.
